About the Organisation:
Due to a recent merger, this leading mining services organisation is entering into a new and exciting phase of its development. The group is now one of the leading integrated mining services firms on the ASX and it now has a vacancy for a Corporate and an Indirect Tax Accountant(s).The primary responsibility for these positions will be the preparation of all necessary tax documentation in relation to the group's Australian Income or Indirect tax affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
The tasks in these roles are not limited to the following in the Corporate Tax Accounting position:
- Calculation of quarterly consolidated instalment income and lodgement of IAS for group
- Preparation of both consolidated and individual company tax returns for the group
- Maintaining taxation registration requirements for group including monitoring of ATO accounts
- Tax effective accounting for the group
- Maintaining transfer pricing documentation and review of international transactions
- Assisting with tax queries from business units across the group and globally
- Maintenance of a tax fixed asset register including a capital allowance schedule
- Calculation of FX gains/losses/compliance TOFA
- Preparation of R & D Applications/Tax Concessions/Plans
- Ad hoc technical research as required
- Project and advisory work as required
Key Skills and Requirements:
These are challenging compliance focused roles which require I high level of proficiency on tax reporting. The candidates will be required to perform detailed line by line GL analysis of accounting reports to determine the correct income tax treatment. The successful candidates will be willing to get their hands dirty and see projects through to completion. These are commercial tax opportunities as such, the likely candidates have experience working in commerce in one of either Indirect or Corporate (or both) Taxation. To be considered for the roles you must have at least 3 years experience in a consolidated group dealing with tax affairs. The successful candidates will possess the following:
- CA/ CPA qualification
- Minimum 5 years accounting/ taxation experience including at least 3 years in a corporate or Indirect tax position
- In depth understanding of taxation legislation and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation
- Strong excel skills including experience in preparation of detailed worksheets and templates
- Strong attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Experience with taxation matters involving international related parties is desirable
