- Maximising employee efficiency will be a major priority for HR training programs in 2011
- 40% of HR departments feel that creating training and development programs will be their main challenge this year
- 67% of financial services firms will focus on employee training and development
Tokyo, March 10th, 2011 - Robert Walters PLC (LSE: RWA), Japan’s leading international recruitment consultancy, recently surveyed human resource departments across Japan and found a strong shift in focus this year to the training and development of current employees after a period of consolidating costs.
The survey found that, over 40% of the human resource directors and managers questioned felt that training existing employees and management will be a major challenge affecting HR departments this year. The respondents further reveal that one of the key points that these programs will hope to focus on will be to maximise both divisional and employee efficiencies (62%).
Financial services firms were particularly committed to improving worker efficiencies with 67% noting this as a priority for their training programs. The commercial sector on the other hand, was comparatively lower at 60%.
What is your HR department planning this year?
John McCrohon, Director - Financial Services of Robert Walters Japan commented: “It is not surprising that after the conservative hiring volumes we witnessed within the financial services sector last year, employees are now being asked to take on more responsibilities given the reduced headcount. By focusing on training and development, firms are also taking a long-term approach to their staff with the goal of retaining key performers.”
