IT professionals will be in strong demand in quarter three across all markets and regions

26/7/2011

Australia

Hiring of IT professionals across all markets and regions will increase throughout quarter three, according to the latest quarterly Market Update released today by recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.

According to the update, the Brisbane market will see the highest levels of hiring activity within the mining and energy sectors due to the projects being undertaken in these industries; similarly, the mining and resources sectors will lead hiring in the Perth market. In these markets, network engineers (Brisbane) and project managers, enterprise/solution architects and SharePoint specialists (Perth) will be most sought-after.

In Melbourne, demand will be strong within professional services, consulting, telecommunications and banking organisations as well as IT vendors as major projects are rolled-out. Project managers, developers and digital media specialists will be most sought-after. Hiring in Sydney will be lead by organisations in the financial services, wealth management, insurance and telecommunications sectors, and there will be strong demand for project managers across infrastructure, web and ERP environments, program test managers and SAP and Oracle consultants.

Robert Walters Associate Director IT, Peter Bateson, also adds “Business analysts and projects managers will be highly sought-after across the board, and salaries are expected to increase for most professionals as skills shortages become more prevalent. Employers will also need to move quickly through their recruitment processes to secure top talent.”
