An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic team in the heart of Sydney CBD. This role offers an attractive salary range of $35 - $45 per hour, reflecting the importance of the position within the organisation.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance team in various accounting tasks. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing financial statements, assisting in budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes, and providing support in taxation matters. You will also be involved in improving financial procedures and systems to enhance efficiency. This role requires a commitment to accuracy, timeliness, and teamwork.

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Support the finance team in managing, budgeting, forecasting and auditing
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial procedures and systems
  • Provide support in taxation matters including preparation of tax returns
  • Assist in internal and external auditing procedures


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant role will bring a strong academic background in Accounting or a related field. You will have proven experience in a similar role, demonstrating your understanding of accounting principles and standards. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is essential. You will possess excellent numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively within a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • A degree in Accounting or related field is essential
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent numerical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
