Assistant Accountant / Accounts Payable Officer

Our client is a global tech driven financial services firm with a unique approach to their work, incorporating game theory and probabilistic thinking into their culture. They are looking for an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Payable Officer to join their finance team of 12 based in Sydney CBD. This role offers the opportunity to support Pan Asian operations, form close relationships with stakeholders both onshore and offshore, and play a key role in the evolution of the accounting team.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Payable Officer, your role will be pivotal in supporting the financial operations of our client's Pan Asian operations. You will be responsible for preparing eft runs, managing daily cash flow, coding bank statements, advising vendors on payments, managing cheque payments and international TTs. Your role will also involve preparing legal fee schedules, managing foreign currency reporting, organising funding rewires for payroll and operational expenses, updating the Fixed Asset register, entering payments into the General Ledger, and reconciling bank accounts.

• Prepare and pay the eft runs (eft runs and one-off eft’s)
• Perform daily cash reporting and cash management
• Download and code daily bank statements
• Advise vendors of payments
• Manage payments of cheques and international TTs
• Prepare legal and professional fee schedules, and audit confirmations
• Manage foreign currency reporting
• Organise funding rewires from MLs for payroll and operating expenses
• Update the Fixed Asset register and manage filing of invoices
• Enter payments into our General Ledger and reconcile the bank accounts

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant / Accounts Payable Officer position brings previous experience in a full function Accounts Payable role. Your high attention to detail will be crucial in managing various financial tasks such as preparing eft runs, managing daily cash flow, coding bank statements among others. Your high computer proficiency especially in MS Office, particularly Excel will be instrumental in performing your duties efficiently.
