Accounts Payable Officer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their dynamic finance team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take ownership of all aspects of the Accounts Payable function, while also supporting the wider finance team with various recurring and ad hoc tasks.

As an Accounts Payable Officer, your role will be pivotal in maintaining an efficient and accurate AP system. You will be responsible for ensuring that all costs are correctly classified and recorded within agreed timeframes.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain an up-to-date AP system to facilitate on-time payment of invoices
  • Ensure all costs are correctly classified and recorded in the general ledger within agreed timeframes
  • Investigate and resolve AP issues and communicate effectively with AP suppliers
  • Set up a process for the review and follow-up of aged AP
  • Maintain the credit card management system and perform daily banking tasks
  • Support the financial control team for month-end (prepayments, accruals)
  • Balance sheet reconciliations which includes providing commentary to explain variances
  • Proactively determine opportunities to streamline and/or automate processes
  • Provide support for the half year, interim and year-end audit processes

What you bring:

  • Sound bookkeeping skills
  • Good knowledge and understanding of key business processes
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong Microsoft skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience of an accounting software package (SAP Highly regarded)
  • Attention to detail and pride in delivering consistently accurate work
  • Ability to organise/prioritise work in and around deadlines, workloads and conflicting priorities
