Finance Officer
As a Finance Officer, you will play an integral role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy across accounts, and contributing to the smooth running of essential finance processes. As a Finance Officer within this innovative renewable energy organisation based in Brisbane, you will be entrusted with managing critical aspects of both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Your day-to-day activities will involve processing invoices with meticulous attention to detail, reconciling account balances regularly, preparing journal entries for month-end closures and supporting the preparation of financial reports.
What you'll do:
- Process customer invoices with precision and timeliness, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in line with established procedures.
- Monitor outstanding receivables diligently, following up on overdue accounts and resolving discrepancies promptly to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Build and nurture positive relationships with customers by facilitating smooth payment processes and addressing any queries or concerns effectively.
- Review, verify and process supplier invoices for payment while ensuring strict compliance with internal policies and approval protocols.
- Manage vendor relationships by responding to inquiries, resolving payment issues efficiently and maintaining clear lines of communication.
- Perform regular reconciliations of both Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) accounts to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Prepare journal entries as part of month-end closures, assisting in the timely completion of financial periods and supporting accurate reporting.
- Act as a key point of contact for finance-related queries from internal teams and external stakeholders, communicating complex information clearly.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience handling Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions including reconciliations and month-end closures within a busy finance department.
- Proficiency using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or SAP alongside strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Strong analytical abilities paired with exceptional attention to detail when reviewing financial documents or identifying discrepancies.
- 5+ Years in a similar role.
