AO7 Principal Taxation Officer

Our client is looking for an experienced Principal Taxation Officer to join their small team. This role is integral in providing high-level support to the Executive Leadership Team and wider Department, assisting with a number of taxation changes that have occurred over the past 12-24 months. * 6 month contract with strong possibility of extension * Based Brisbane CBD, offering flexible hours and up to 2 days WFH * Close to public transport

What you'll do:

  • Lead and manage the accurate preparation, completion and review of consolidated GST Group Business Activity Statement (BAS) for the department.
  • Provide advice on complex and sensitive submissions, briefing notes and reports on tax matters for key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with taxation legislation, policy and procedure.
  • Lead the monthly apportionment process.
  • Lead the tax assessment of all cost centre creations and amendments.
  • Manage data required to supporting taxation assumptions used for annual GST Budget Estimates process.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in providing high level and accurate advice to senior management on taxation related matters.
  • Experience in leading and managing the preparation and submission of obligatory taxation periodic statements.
  • Ability to cultivate productive working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of communication (written and verbal), negotiation, consultation, liaison and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a small team.
