Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join their dynamic team. To summarise briefly, you'll be responsible for;
- Delivery of high-quality technical tax advice to a multitude of national internal and external stakeholders
- Manage Australian GST and insurance duty reporting obligations alongside the Group Head of Tax.
- Supports flexible working practices, manage and lead a team in project and BAU work.
What you'll do:
As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical advice and managing the Australian GST and insurance duty reporting obligations. You will play a crucial role in minimising transaction tax risks, maximising shareholder returns, and providing insights into emerging tax risks. Your ability to develop productive relationships with internal stakeholders will be key to your success in this role. Additionally, you will be tasked with enhancing tax governance processes, controls, and documentation.
You'll lead a team of eager professionals with a background in Big 4 CA firms in succeeding in their roles. As a team leader you'll run point on some of the below deliverables for the Group.
- Provide oversight of best practice in-house Transaction Tax function
- Minimise Transaction Tax risks in line with the company's Risk Management Framework
- Maximise shareholder returns by identifying transaction tax savings opportunities
- Provide insights of emerging tax risks/issues in relation to systems, operational and governance risks
- Develop productive relationships with internal stakeholders at various levels
- Enhance Tax Governance processes, controls and documentation
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Tax Manager position brings a wealth of experience in indirect tax or corporate tax consulting within a large corporate or big 4 firm and/or Financial Services / Insurance firms. You have proven experience in providing complex strategic tax advice and managing regulatory relationships. Your strong business acumen allows you to make decisions that maximise financial return. Your ability to negotiate tax positions and correspond effectively with regulators sets you apart from others. The team run autonomously but appreciate a leader that is empathetic, technically excellent and eager to get stuck in with their peers.
Technically your experience should cover the following:
- Degree in Accounting Finance or Law
- 10+ years of experience in corporate tax consulting within a large corporate or big 4 firm
- Experience in management of regulatory relationships
- Proven experience in provision of complex strategic tax advice
- Experience in negotiating tax positions and correspondence with regulators
- Strong business knowledge and ability to make decisions that maximise financial return
