Opportunity for an experienced tax professional to step into a pivotal Tax Manager position based in Sydney CBD. This role offers the chance to shape and oversee the quality and compliance of all tax services within a rapidly growing, highly collaborative environment. Instrumental in maintaining registration with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), ensuring world-class standards are met while supporting a motivated team dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

What you'll do:

As Tax Manager, you will be at the heart of ensuring that every aspect of tax service delivery meets the highest standards of quality and compliance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve building robust systems that underpin regulatory obligations while mentoring others to achieve excellence. You will play a hands-on role in developing policies that keep processes simple yet effective as the organisation grows. By maintaining meticulous records for audit purposes and communicating effectively across teams, you will help foster an environment where everyone understands their responsibilities. Your ability to adapt procedures for a dynamic setting will be crucial in balancing regulatory demands with operational scalability. Success in this role means not only meeting external requirements but also nurturing a culture of continuous improvement within a supportive team.

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive quality management systems for all tax services provided under TPB registration, ensuring documentation is thorough and up-to-date.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce internal policies and procedures for non-registered staff performing tax-related tasks, promoting consistency and compliance across the team.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, conduct regular reviews, and perform spot checks to guarantee that all work adheres to established compliance and quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure full alignment with TASA 2009 legislation as well as strict adherence to the TPB Code of Professional Conduct throughout all operations.
  • Identify, assess, and manage ethical risks including confidentiality and integrity matters, fostering a culture of trust and responsibility within the team.
  • Maintain current professional knowledge for yourself and your team by engaging in Continuing Professional Education (CPE) activities relevant to taxation law.
  • Lead, mentor, and train staff members to ensure competence in their roles while nurturing adherence to high professional standards.
  • Keep detailed records of all supervision, training sessions, and quality control activities for audit purposes required by regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and stakeholders to facilitate understanding of compliance requirements and operational changes.
  • Design practical compliance procedures tailored for a fast-paced start-up environment that balance regulatory rigor with scalable operational efficiency.



What you bring:

Your extensive background as a Tax Manager equips you with deep technical expertise in both taxation law and commercial law. You bring proven experience in establishing robust compliance frameworks that stand up to scrutiny while remaining adaptable enough for evolving business environments.You are known for your dependability when it comes to maintaining ethical standards; your attention to detail ensures nothing is overlooked. With your TPB registration and tertiary qualifications backing your authority, you are well-positioned to guide teams through complex regulatory landscapes. Your capacity for clear communication helps bridge gaps between departments so everyone remains aligned on best practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with proven experience mentoring colleagues in a collaborative environment focused on shared success.
  • Exceptional understanding of Australian taxation law coupled with strong commercial law knowledge relevant to compliance functions.
  • Track record of designing and implementing effective compliance systems as well as internal controls within complex organisations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail paired with unwavering commitment to ethical standards across all aspects of work.
  • Ability to adapt compliance practices responsively as business needs evolve within a fast-moving organisational context.
  • Current individual registration as a Registered Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), demonstrating recognised expertise in the field.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Law providing foundational knowledge essential for this senior position.
