Tax Compliance Manager

The Tax Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s tax compliance and reporting functions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of all tax returns and related filings, staying current with evolving tax regulations, and minimising tax risks for the global organisation. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently, as well as leading tax projects and initiatives across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, sales, and property taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
  • Monitor tax law changes and assess their impact on the company’s tax position.
  • Provide tax planning strategies to minimise liabilities while maximising the company’s tax benefits.
  • Advise management on the tax implications of business decisions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and expansion activities.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues and stay updated on relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls over tax reporting processes.
  • Continuously review and enhance tax compliance processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (finance, legal, etc.) to ensure accurate data for tax filings and compliance purposes.
  • Lead and manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and resolve tax issues in collaboration with external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate responses to tax-related requests.
  • Supervise and mentor junior tax accountants, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional tax projects and support corporate initiatives as they relate to tax matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
  • CPA/CTA or equivalent certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in tax compliance, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
