Climate Reporting Specialist
This role offers you the chance to lead the delivery of mandatory sustainability and climate-related reporting, ensuring robust compliance with evolving regulatory standards such as AASB S2 and the Corporations Act 2001. What you'll do:
- Lead the end-to-end preparation of Climate Statements in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001 and AASB S2 disclosure requirements, ensuring all information is accurate, consistent, and aligned with annual reporting frameworks.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive templates, methodologies, and documentation to support efficient and reliable climate reporting processes across the organisation.
- Coordinate data collection and validation efforts across multiple business units—including finance, risk, operations, and sustainability—to ensure high-quality inputs for AASB S2 climate-related disclosures.
- Establish robust internal controls and audit trails for all climate-related metrics, scenario analyses, and risk disclosures to guarantee transparency and auditability.
- Support both internal and external assurance processes by providing clear documentation and evidence for climate data and disclosures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, quantify, and communicate climate-related financial risks and opportunities in line with regulatory requirements covering governance, strategy, risk management, metrics, and targets.
- Work closely with finance teams to integrate climate reporting metrics into financial planning activities such as scenario analysis and valuation impact assessments.
- Contribute to the development of Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions data sets as well as reduction target disclosures required under AASB S2 guidelines.
- Monitor legislative changes in climate disclosure requirements while liaising with regulators, auditors, consultants, and other key stakeholders on all matters related to climate reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by benchmarking disclosures against industry peers, enhancing systems and data processes, supporting team members’ growth in sustainability reporting capability.
What you bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability or a related discipline is essential for success in this role as it provides foundational knowledge required for complex reporting tasks.
- Demonstrated experience preparing sustainability-related financial disclosures—whether through direct reporting roles or policy development—ensures you can deliver high-quality outputs from day one.
- Strong knowledge of relevant sustainability reporting standards (such as AASB S2 or TCFD) enables you to interpret regulatory requirements accurately when preparing disclosures.
- A deep understanding of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions accounting along with familiarity with climate risk assessment methodologies allows you to contribute meaningfully to emissions data development.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with clear communication abilities mean you can translate technical content into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills ensure effective collaboration across finance teams as well as external parties like auditors or regulators.
- Ability to work independently while driving continuous improvement initiatives demonstrates your commitment to enhancing organisational capability in sustainability reporting.
- Advanced proficiency using Power BI, Microsoft Office Suite, and large datasets supports efficient data management throughout the reporting cycle.
- CA/CPA or other professional accounting qualifications are highly desirable as they further validate your technical expertise within regulated environments.
- Experience using sustainability data management tools or specialist reporting software would be advantageous for streamlining complex workflows.
