Senior Accountant (12-month FTC)

Our client is a leading player in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors, with a strong global presence and a commitment to driving sustainable growth. The team is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a maternity leave cover. The role will lead the accounting team in managing complex financial activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and driving process improvements. This position is ideal for someone who is ready to take on a leadership role, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the strategic financial goals of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
Support and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and development opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, tax, and audit, to ensure seamless financial processes.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
Conduct variance analysis and financial modelling to support decision-making in both the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate policies, identifying and implementing improvements where necessary.
Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations and industry trends, ensuring the company's practices remain current and compliant.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements, particularly in the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (specifically SAP).
Excellent analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
