Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to become an integral part of their Finance Team. This role offers the opportunity to manage daily accounting, finance and investment processes in a hands-on capacity. The successful candidate will support the Financial Controller in managing the finance activities of the company, with a focus on Investment Reporting and Fund Accounting.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including calculating monthly management fees, preparing cost centre budget reports, and assisting with the annual budget process. You will also be tasked with maintaining clearing and accrual account reconciliations, preparing actuarial workbooks for review, and handling payroll preparations. Additionally, you will generate monthly sales statistics and client reports.

• Preparation of payroll
• Prepare Actuarial workbook for review
• Prepare monthly income tax calculation
• Maintain clearing and accrual account reconciliations
• Preparation of monthly sales statistics and client reports
• Calculate monthly management fees derived from benefit funds
• Prepare cost centre budget reports for review of monthly results
• Review or prepare recording and reconciliation of bank transactions
• Assist with annual budget process and update forecasts on a month basis

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior Financial Accountant position will have post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Accounting, Commerce or Economics. CA/CPA qualification is preferred. You should have demonstrated senior accounting experience in a similar role along with extensive experience in financial reporting, financial analysis and year-end reporting. Experience dealing with both internal and external audit processes is essential. You should also have experience delivering investment activities within compliance and risk management frameworks.

• CA/ CPA qualified preferable
• Demonstrated Senior Accounting experience in a similar role
• Experience dealing with internal and external audit processes
• Experience dealing with regulatory reporting, specifically APRA
• Understanding of tax as at it applies to investments and corporate structures
• Extensive experience in financial reporting, financial analysis and year-end reporting
• Delivery of investment activities within compliance and risk management frameworks
• Post Graduate qualifications in relevant discipline (e.g. Accounting, Commerce or Economics)
