Senior Accountant - Funds

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Accountant to join a leading land-focused asset management platform. This role offers the chance to work with diverse geographies, crop and tree species, and operating strategies. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure accurate and timely completion of the financial statements for the investment entities whilst maintaining internal controls and external compliance. This includes completing the Investment Accounting, taxation and audit compliance for certain Australian investment entities, working closely with the fund administrator and external trustees to ensure deliverables to investors are met.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Accountant, your role will be pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting and investment accounting. You will be responsible for completing balance sheet and control account reconciliations, reviewing journal entries, reporting on lease properties, participating in annual audits, calculating fees, and preparing tax returns. Your ability to collaborate within a team, manage complex projects, and build relationships will be key to your success in this role.

• Complete balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
• Review and adjust journal entries prepared by fund administrators.
• Accurately report and reconcile lease, custom farm and share farm properties.
• Participate in the annual audit of financial statements with external Auditors.
• Calculate management fees and performance fees.
• Prepare information required for the annual taxation returns.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant position will bring a wealth of accounting experience along with professional qualifications such as CA or CPA. With at least 7 years of experience under your belt, you have developed an in-depth knowledge of investment management and alternative products. Your understanding of Australian tax legislation and accounting standards (IFRS and GAAP) sets you apart from others. Your background in agriculture or agribusiness will be highly regarded.

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting.
• Professional qualification such as CA or CPA qualification.
• Minimum 7 years Accounting experience.
• Knowledge of relevant tax legislation in Australia.
• Experience in Accounting Standards (IFRS and GAAP).
• Experience interacting with internal and external auditors.
