Senior Financial Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a portfolio of renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with accounting and taxation regulations, managing financial risk, and providing information that facilitates effective decision making. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration and delivery of financial management functions, as well as the development of policies and procedures to meet agreed accounting standards.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Financial Accountant, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of our client's finance department. You will be responsible for facilitating accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of renewable energy projects, reviewing accounting records, establishing accounting processes, coordinating audits, preparing financial statements, maintaining internal controls, engaging with other business units for process improvements, and participating in budget compilation. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the company's financial stability and growth.

• Facilitate accurate and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
• Review accounting records, reconciliations, statutory returns, billings, and payments to ensure accuracy.
• Establish and maintain accounting processes and financial reporting in accordance with contractual commitments and Australian Accounting Standards.
• Coordinate month and year ends including periodic audits.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and other relevant financial reports.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and actively promote their improvement.
• Engage with other business units to identify and implement improvements in processes and reporting.
• Participate in the compilation of periodic budgets for both the company and the project portfolio.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Financial Accountant position brings a wealth of experience from a corporate or professional accounting environment. With sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory taxation laws, you are adept at preparing and reviewing statutory accounts. Your experience with large accounting applications enhances your ability to develop budgets, forecast trends, analyse variances, manage your time effectively, prioritise tasks efficiently, deliver excellent customer service, improve service delivery processes, and use MS Office tools proficiently.

• Minimum 5+ years experience in accounting firm or big corporates.
• Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and Australian statutory taxation laws.
• Experience in preparation and review of statutory accounts.
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets including forecasting and variance analysis.
• Exposure to large accounting applications and systems.
• Proven ability to manage own time, work independently, set priorities to meet realistic deadlines.
• High level commitment to customer service and the improvement of service delivery.
