An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Accountant to join a leading financial services franchise with global reach. This role offers a competitive salary package of $140,000 plus bonus and is based in the heart of Sydney's CBD. The successful candidate will be part of an ambitious journey to grow the business into one of Australia's top Investment Banking franchises. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to building a 'best in class' finance capability.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Accountant, your role will be pivotal in contributing to a scaleable control environment that manages and minimises inherent financial risk. You will gain an understanding of P&L decomposition, business strategy and risk-based P&L analysis. Your ability to oversee IPV processes will ensure accuracy and compliance with financial controls. You will also have the opportunity to drive automation initiatives that improve efficiency across finance processes. Collaborating with key stakeholders, you will assist in the testing and deployment of new products while also contributing to the training and development of graduate level hires.

  • Contribute to building a 'best in class' finance capability
  • Perform and enhance daily P&L production, validation and attribution analysis for trading businesses
  • Oversee Independent Price Verification (IPV) processes
  • Produce various MI and reports including weekly summary P&L analysis, weekly controls pack and month management packs
  • Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy across finance processes
  • Perform monthly ledger close activities, including source system to general ledger reconciliations
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including trader desks, COO teams, risk, middle office, settlements, the wider finance team and external auditors
  • Assist in the testing and deployment of new products
  • Assist in the training and development of graduate level hires

What you bring:

As a Senior Accountant, you bring valuable experience from Business Finance or Product Control within a financial services environment. Your strong analytical skills coupled with your problem-solving capabilities make you an asset to our team. Your control mindset along with your value add mentality ensures that you consistently deliver high-quality work. Your solid Excel skills are complemented by your experience with VBA, SQL, and Python. Your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders. Your ability to meet deadlines, multitask and work under pressure is commendable.

  • Experience working within Business Finance, Product Control or similar function in a financial services environment
  • A finance or business-related degree
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • A control mindset and a demonstrated value add mentality
  • Solid excel skills. Experience with VBA, SQL, Python is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written, clear and concise
  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask and work under pressure
  • Strong team player who works effectively with others
