Senior Financial Accountant

This global wealth management firm is looking to add a Senior Financial Accountant to their growing Finance team. The ideal candidate will CA/CPA qualified with Financial Reporting experience within a Financial Services firm. This role will be an excellent fit to an ambitious Accountant who is interested in refining their Financial Control skills in a dynamic, growing organisation.

What you'll do:

  • Process month-end journals with particular attention to revenue recognition, foreign exchange revaluations, leases, fixed assets, accruals, provisions, prepayments, and internal recharges.
  • Prepare consolidated tax provisions and accurately book monthly tax effect journals to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions while running consolidation processes to maintain accurate group accounts.
  • Prepare detailed monthly reporting for the Group as well as additional quarterly and annual reports using HFM, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Assist with ad-hoc Group requests and queries by providing clear analysis and supporting information as needed.
  • Reconcile all bank accounts on a weekly basis across both AUD and foreign currency balances to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations including reconciliation to trading platforms, following up on queries and resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • Process weekly withholding tax payments for both client and corporate obligations; prepare and lodge monthly IAS and consolidated BAS covering GST, WHT, income tax instalments, and FBT.
  • Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules for statutory reporting purposes; respond effectively to audit queries during year-end audits.
  • Support regulatory compliance by preparing and lodging APRA reports as well as other compliance obligations such as Payment Times Reporting Scheme (PTRS) reports and ABS surveys.

What you bring:

  • CA or CPA qualification is essential along with a degree in Finance, Commerce or Business which underpins your technical expertise in accounting principles.
  • At least five years’ combined experience in accounting and finance roles demonstrates your ability to manage complex financial operations within large organisations.
  • Previous exposure to financial services environments or public accounting firms is highly regarded due to the specialised nature of this sector’s requirements.
  • Proven track record in month-end processing including journal entries for revenue recognition, FX revaluations, leases management, fixed assets administration as well as accruals handling.
  • Strong experience preparing consolidated tax provisions alongside booking monthly tax effect journals ensures full compliance with local regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to record/reconcile intercompany transactions while managing group consolidations using advanced software tools such as HFM.
  • Comprehensive understanding of statutory reporting requirements including preparation of consolidated financial statements plus effective response strategies for audit queries during year-end periods.
  • Solid grasp of regulatory reporting obligations such as APRA returns coupled with familiarity around Payment Times Reporting Scheme (PTRS) submissions or ABS survey completion processes.
  • Excellent communication skills enable you to liaise effectively with internal teams regarding invoicing matters whilst monitoring shared finance inboxes efficiently.
  • A collaborative mindset paired with enthusiasm for contributing towards process improvements—such as implementing Blackline modules—will help drive transformation across financial control functions.
