Assistant Accountant

What you'll do:
- Take ownership of accounts payable processes with medium transaction volume, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all payments.
- Manage accounts receivable functions with low volume transactions, maintaining clear records and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Liaise closely with external trustees to coordinate payment instructions and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Process staff expense reimbursements as well as corporate credit card transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Reconcile inter-company loans by preparing detailed schedules and supporting documentation for internal review.
- Prepare period-end closing accruals, manage prepayment schedules, and maintain fixed asset registers to support accurate financial reporting.
- Allocate overhead costs appropriately across business units and recharge them as necessary to ensure transparency in cost management.
- Prepare Business Activity Statement (BAS) lodgements in accordance with regulatory requirements, ensuring timely submission.
- Maintain co-investment schedules meticulously while assisting with financial audits, internal systems audits, year-end family office accounting tasks, and other ad hoc duties as required.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated experience using MYOB applications within an accounts payable or accounts receivable capacity is essential for this position.
- Progressing towards completion of CA or CPA qualifications is highly regarded; candidates who have finished or are close to finishing their studies are encouraged to apply.
- A positive can-do attitude combined with eagerness to learn new concepts and adapt quickly within a changing environment is crucial for success.
- Proactive approach to work processes with an ability to identify opportunities for automation or efficiency improvements is highly valued.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a team setting while also being dependable when handling individual responsibilities independently.
- Excellent organisational skills enabling you to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without compromising on accuracy or deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills allowing you to build rapport with colleagues across departments as well as external stakeholders such as trustees or auditors.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations involving multiple currencies would be advantageous but not mandatory if you demonstrate willingness to learn quickly.
- Familiarity with period-end closing procedures including accruals preparation, prepayment schedules management, fixed asset register maintenance is desirable but training can be provided if needed.
- Previous exposure to fund management or family office accounting environments would be beneficial but not essential; enthusiasm for expanding your knowledge base is most important.
