A leading professional services firm is seeking a Senior Accountant specialising in Tax and Business Advisory to join their thriving team in Sydney CBD. What you'll do:

  • Deliver high-quality year-end accounting and tax lodgement services for a varied portfolio of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Prepare statutory accounts along with comprehensive working papers and supporting documentation to meet reporting standards.
  • Complete income tax returns and fringe benefits tax returns efficiently while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), managing all associated reporting obligations in a timely manner.
  • Provide management accounting support by analysing financial data and assisting clients with strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in managing the tax lodgement programme by coordinating deadlines, submissions, and client communications.
  • Supervise junior staff members by offering guidance, mentorship, and fostering an environment focused on collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Review completed work thoroughly to ensure quality control and compliance with internal policies as well as external regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs, providing tailored advice, and maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Contribute actively to team meetings, knowledge sharing sessions, and ongoing process improvements within the department.

What you bring:

  • At least four years’ proven experience working within tax and business advisory services at a professional level.
  • A bachelor’s degree in commerce or accounting from a recognised institution demonstrating solid academic foundations.
  • Completion or near completion of CPA or CA ANZ qualifications showing commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage strong client relationships through effective communication, empathy, and responsiveness.
  • Excellent leadership skills including experience supervising junior staff members within collaborative environments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities enabling clear explanations of complex concepts to clients or colleagues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing financial documents or preparing statutory accounts ensuring accuracy at every stage.
  • Proficiency using modern accounting software systems which streamline workflow processes for efficiency.
  • Capacity for analytical thinking when interpreting financial data or advising on strategic decisions for clients.
  • Commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by participation in training programmes or pursuit of further qualifications.
