Financial Controller

Surf Live Saving Queensland formally established in 1930, has developed into a ground-breaking and highly innovative organisation. SLSQ has 57 established surf lifesaving clubs with members patrolling 8,000 kilometres of the Queensland coastline from Port Douglas to Rainbow Bay.

As Financial Controller you will lead the entire Finance function for the organisation reporting into a highly strategical focused CFO.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders (eg: audit)
• Accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts; quarterly forecasts and reporting process including the statutory reporting
• Full function Controller role supervising AP, AR,GL, Bank, Transaction oversight
• Business partnering with GM’s and Unit Managers on monthly management and financial reporting
• Providing commentary around variances
• Cash flow monitoring and reporting
• Coordinate the preparation of quarterly forecasts and budgets
• Identify business improvement opportunities to deliver an efficiency dividend.

Skills and Experience:

• Qualified CA/CPA professional qualification or equivalent
• Minimum of five years’ work experience leading finance teams in an equivalent full function Controllership position
• Solid technical understanding of financial accounting standards and process
• Strong commercial background
• Established ERP system experience – especially regarding accounting controls, reporting and business process improvement
• Excellent people management, communication and presentation skills
• Attention to detail, analytical and logical problem-solving skills
