The Senior Management Accountant will play a critical role in bringing commercial clarity to front line decisions. You’ll guide planning, forecasting, and investment conversations, while supporting operational managers to understand the financial impact of their work. This is more than just a month-end role or budget preparation role it’s about using numbers to move the dial on performance. To educate and bring non financially focused operators into the fold of the wider strategy and their impact on growth financially, operationally and culturally.

You’ll report into a commercially experienced Financial Controller with a strong dotted line to the CFO who expects quality, but also backs his people to lead, grow and make mistakes in a safe environment. What You’ll Do
Before diving in. This role requires someone with a strategic focus, who's financially intelligent, tech savvy with PowerBi, SQL, Datawarehouses and can effectively prioritise and collaborate with various internal stakeholders. The team works together, ownership and accountability is shared and not delegated from an ivory tower. You're entrusted with preparing, challenging and executing on business activities at various levels of the organisation.
Technically you should be comfortable with;
Budgets and Forecasts
- Produce a detailed three-year rolling budget including full P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow coverage
- Lead monthly planning cycles and forecasting in partnership with operational managers
- Monitor and analyse budget performance, provide recommendations, and drive continuous forecast accuracy
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Deliver weekly and monthly KPI insights and contribute to Group financial statement preparation
- Educate and support non-finance leaders to better understand their budgets and financial impacts
- Build reporting tools and dashboards (Power BI) that make data accessible and actionable for operational teams
Business Performance and Decision Support
- Drive performance improvement by challenging assumptions and identifying cost optimisation opportunities
- Ensure accurate cost allocation across multiple business units and revenue streams
- Collaborate with analysts to improve financial systems, reporting accuracy, and decision-making frameworks
Reporting and Project Support
- Provide support for month-end close and deliver ad hoc reporting for executive leadership
- Conduct variance analysis and ensure revenue is captured consistently across the business
- Support investment decisions through ROI modelling, Capex planning, and asset life cycle analysis
Who You Are
You’re commercially curious, operationally minded, and confident in your ability to influence decision-making. This role suits someone who thrives on variety and wants their work to drive real results in a fast-moving industry.
- CA or CPA qualified with at least 5 years of commercial or management accounting experience
- Background in operational industries such as logistics, transport, industrial services, or similar
- Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering in distributed or multi-site businesses
- Confident with Excel (Power Query, modelling), Power BI, and turning large datasets into insights
- Strong communication skills with the ability to push back, manage competing priorities, and work independently
