Senior Accountant
Seeking a Senior Accountant to join a global agricultural company’s finance team based in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting. The role is an initial 6-month temporary assignment, starting as soon as possible, with the likelihood of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full spectrum of accounts receivable functions including invoicing, collections, recording, reporting, and timely month-end closing activities.
- Oversee accounts payable processes such as reconciling purchase orders with supplier invoices, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with company policies.
- Handle credit control duties by reviewing payment terms, monitoring overdue receivables, conducting risk profiling, and resolving issues related to late payments or bad debts.
- Process payroll functions for employees and contractors including timesheet management, leave entitlements, payroll tax calculations, workers compensation returns, and preparation of annual submissions.
- Prepare monthly business activity statements (BAS), ensuring all approvals and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- Conduct general ledger account reconciliations for multiple entities across Australia and New Zealand, maintaining accuracy in intercompany transactions and treasury netting payments.
- Assist in the completion of budgets, forecasting exercises, weekly backlog reports, variance analysis on financial statements, and management reporting requirements.
- Partner with senior financial analysts and managers to support divisional and corporate reporting needs as well as ad-hoc queries from various teams.
- Develop best practices for local business processes within the finance organisation by revising standard work instructions and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform office administration duties such as ordering stationery and supplies while supporting other projects or tasks assigned by management.
Skills and Abilities:
- Degree/Diploma in a business or accountancy related field
- Strong commercial financial sense and experience in operational finance matters.
- Positive, motivated, committed, and resourceful
- Skills to become a proficient accounts all rounder
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with MYOB – desirable, not essential
- Proficiency with Excel
