Accountant
A fantastic opportunity to join a nationally recognised, multifaceted organisation operating in the construction, engineering, rural infrastructure, and mining services sectors. This is a full-time, permanent role, with four days based in the North Adelaide Head Office and one day in the Kingsford, Barossa office. You will be part of a highly productive and close-knit finance team, working as an Accountant and managing project and management accounting activities.
Responsibilities:
Project & Management Accounting:
- Manage project and management accounting activities across multiple divisions.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure monthly forecasts are completed and perform profit take-ups.
- Provide divisional managers with insights on monthly profit take-up and forecasting outcomes.
Cost Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor accurate cost code usage aligned with project activities.
- Prepare detailed reports and analyses on labor and equipment utilisation and efficiency.
- Analyse project reports and conduct variance analysis.
Financial Reconciliation & Reporting:
- Prepare account reconciliations and conduct full profit & loss reviews, effectively reporting variances.
- Post all necessary journals for divisions, including monthly accruals.
- Prepare month-end management reporting packs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Audit Support & Compliance:
- Support year-end audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
Team Training & Development:
- Provide training and constructive feedback to divisional staff and assistant accountants.
Skills Required:
- Proven experience in project and management accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment (preferred).
- A hands-on approach with a willingness to engage in all aspects of the business.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and reporting frameworks.
