A prestigious higher education institution in Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and driven Management Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be tasked with providing financial insights, fostering strong business partnerships, and supporting key academic and research departments. This role is perfect for a forward-thinking finance professional with a passion for stakeholder engagement, financial management, and process improvement.


What you'll do:

As a Management Accountant, your role will be multifaceted. You will be tasked with providing financial insights and fostering strong business partnerships across academic teams and research projects. Your responsibilities will include managing research funding, overseeing large-scale research projects, performing extensive financial modelling and analysis, and driving process improvements. You will also play a crucial role in supporting the financial aspects of various research grants. Your ability to communicate complex financial information effectively will be key to building trusted relationships with academic leaders.

  • Partner closely with senior stakeholders within one of the institution's largest faculties
  • Manage and oversee research funding with a focus on budgeting and forecasting
  • Work on research projects involving significant expenditure
  • Perform extensive financial modelling and analysis
  • Play a key role in evaluating and optimising day-to-day finance processes
  • Support the financial aspects of various research grants
  • Effectively communicate complex financial information

  • $98,582 - $107,349 base salary + 17% superannuation.

What you bring:

As an ideal candidate for the Management Accountant position, you bring a wealth of technical expertise to the table. Your strong proficiency in Excel and Power BI will be instrumental in performing extensive financial modelling and analysis. Your professional qualifications (CA/CPA) or current pursuit thereof demonstrate your commitment to your field. Prior experience in research finance will be beneficial in managing research funding and overseeing large-scale projects. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to simplify complex financial data for various audiences. Lastly, your strong organisational skills will ensure that you can effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel is essential, Power BI experience is highly desirable
  • Professional qualifications: CA/CPA qualified (or currently pursuing)
  • Prior experience working within research finance is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • Strong ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
