About the gig:

My client isn’t your run-of-the-mill operator. They drill, they innovate, and they do it with a lean team that packs a punch. They're after an Operations / Cost Accountant who can bring financial insight into the operational frontline - not just count the dollars, but shape the decisions behind them.

You’ll work closely with the Assistant Financial Controller, diving into budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost review meetings. You’ll build reporting packs that tell stories, not just show numbers. And you'll get your fingerprints on everything from month-end to tenders and asset evaluations.

Based in Toowoomba (or Brisbane CBD with 2-day travel to site), this is your chance to get off the sideline and into the guts of a business that’s actively growing and evolving.

Who this role is made for:

You’ve probably done 3–5 years in a commercial industry. You know your way around a large ERP like Microsoft Dynamics GP or SAP, and Excel’s not just a tool – it’s an extension of your thinking. You’re potentially CA or CPA qualified (or close), though this is not essential. More importantly, you’ve got the commercial acumen to see the story behind the spreadsheet.

Bonus points if you've worked in energy, oil & gas, or heavy equipment industries.

Your toolbox:

• Budgeting & forecasting chops
• Strong cost review process ownership
• Confident working with operations, asset evaluations, and business cases
• Ability to coach others on financial decisions
• Comfort with dynamic, fast-paced environments
• A keen eye for improving systems, processes, and integrity checks
