Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Associate to join a supportive and knowledgeable finance team based in Brisbane. This role is perfect for someone looking to build a strong foundation in accounting principles while gaining hands-on experience across other accounting functions. The organisation offers a nurturing environment where your attention to detail, organisational skills, and eagerness to learn will be highly valued. With a focus on professional growth, you will benefit from ongoing training opportunities and the chance to work closely with experienced finance professionals who are committed to helping you develop your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate accounting journals under the guidance of senior team members, ensuring all entries comply with relevant standards and internal policies.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations by gathering supporting documentation and identifying discrepancies for resolution.
  • Support the monthly payroll process by compiling necessary data and assisting with related administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes by organising financial records and collaborating with colleagues to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies through diligent record-keeping and adherence to established procedures.
  • Process incoming invoices by verifying coding accuracy, obtaining approvals, entering data into the accounting system promptly, and maintaining up-to-date vendor records.
  • Reconcile vendor statements regularly, assist with payment batch preparation, execute payment runs, and resolve any accounts payable inquiries or discrepancies from vendors.
  • Help maintain an organised filing system for all financial documents to support audit readiness and efficient information retrieval.
  • Participate in improving accounts payable processes by suggesting best practices and contributing ideas for greater efficiency.
  • Assist with project budgets, forecasts including variance analysis, annual budget preparation, cashflow support, and maintenance of corporate asset registers.

About You:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field provides you with the foundational knowledge required for this position.
  • A basic understanding of core accounting principles demonstrates your readiness to apply theoretical concepts in practice.
  • Strong organisational skills enable you to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Meticulous attention to detail ensures that financial records are maintained correctly.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications—especially Excel—allows you to handle data entry tasks confidently; familiarity with any accounting software is considered advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills help you collaborate effectively within the team environment as well as interact politely with vendors.
  • A motivated attitude combined with a willingness to learn supports your ongoing professional development within the finance function.
  • The ability to work dependably as part of a team fosters a positive workplace atmosphere where everyone feels included.
  • Experience or interest in Power-Bi is not required but would be beneficial if you wish to expand your analytical capabilities.
