Assistant Accountant

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to join a well-established organisation based in Canning Vale. Reporting to senior finance leaders, this role offers broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, and operations within a multi-entity environment.This is an excellent opportunity for a developing Accountant with 1–3 years’ experience looking to build their technical skills, gain mentorship, and progress over time.

A well-rounded Assistant Accountant role offering exposure across financial reporting, payroll, and operational finance. You will work closely with experienced finance leaders and gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Assist with preparation of monthly management reports
• Maintain general ledger, journals, and reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end processes
• Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts

Tax & Compliance

• Assist in preparation of BAS, GST, and FBT returns
• Support compliance with accounting standards and internal controls

Payroll & Finance Support

• Assist with payroll processing and reconciliations
• Support PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax requirements
• Liaise with stakeholders on payroll-related queries

Accounts & Operations

• Support Accounts Payable and Receivable functions
• Manage invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial data and records

Business Support & Systems

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting
• Provide reporting and financial insights
• Support ERP system usage and improvements (MS Dynamics preferred)
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives

About You

• 1–3 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• Working towards (or planning to commence) CPA/CA
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
• Experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics highly regarded)
• Exposure to Employment Hero or Xemplo advantageous
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
