Our client is seeking a best-in-class Payroll Advisor. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to utilise their passion for payroll in a fast-paced environment, driving positive change and optimisation across the payroll space. The successful candidate will have the chance to contribute to the coaching, training, and development of other Payroll professionals while driving continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to process improvements, audits, and compliant delivery of payroll services

What you'll do:

As a Payroll Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the on-time, effective, and compliant delivery of a fortnightly payroll. Your extensive experience will be utilised in providing technical advice and support in relation to payroll, superannuation, tax escalations, and high-care matters. You will also contribute to meeting service level standards through effective utilisation of ServiceNow. Your role will extend beyond daily operations as you provide technical support for initiatives within the Payroll Operations team. You will also actively engage in knowledge sharing and cross-skilling across Payroll Operations.

  • Provide technical payroll subject matter expertise, advice and oversight
  • Ensure key milestones are met for a successful payroll
  • Identify and manage payroll-related risks and issues
  • Support strong governance and stakeholder management of all payroll-related activities
  • Provide technical support for initiatives within the Payroll Operations team
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, simplify and improve payroll standard operating procedures
  • Undertake control testing, internal and external audits and compliance management


What you bring:

As an ideal candidate for the Payroll Advisor position, you bring along a wealth of experience from a complex payroll environment. Your ability to interpret complex payroll and regulatory requirements will be invaluable in this role. You possess superior organisational skills that allow you to manage your time effectively while maintaining high standards of work. Your prior experience with Oracle PeopleSoft will be beneficial but not essential as your demonstrated operational experience across the full ambit of payroll including Single Touch Payroll, taxation, workers compensation etc., is what truly sets you apart.

  • Accounting, Finance, Business or HR degree – desirable
  • 8+ years experience within a complex payroll environment is essential
  • Prior payroll experience within a mid to large organisation would be advantageous
  • Oracle PeopleSoft experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to interpret complex payroll and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated operational experience across the full payroll ambit
  • Superior organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
