Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer for a position based in Brisbane. The role involves providing efficient payroll services, handling weekly functions, analyzing data, writing reports, and other ad-hoc tasks. The opportunity provides a dynamic and supportive environment with a focus on professional growth. The ideal candidate brings experience in high-volume payroll roles, knowledge of payroll legislation, strong numeracy and analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and the ability to document procedures effectively. Strong communication skills are also required.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Payroll Officer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation of all aspects of payroll services. You will assist with weekly payroll functions, ensuring that all processes are carried out efficiently and effectively. Additionally, you will be responsible for responding to queries regarding award interpretation and system advice. Your role also includes providing training and support to the payroll team on system processes and procedures.

  • Provide efficient and effective payroll services to employees
  • Assist with weekly payroll functions including exception checking, running of the payroll, updating reporting as required, and scenario testing with time and attendance systems
  • Respond to queries including award interpretation and system advice
  • Provide training and support to the payroll team on system processes and procedures
  • Ensure end of month and end of period processing are completed accurately
  • Document payroll and system related procedures and checklists


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Payroll Officer position brings extensive experience in a similar high-volume payroll role. Your knowledge of payroll-related legislation including superannuation, tax, and Fair Work will be essential in this role. You possess high-level numeracy skills coupled with strong analytical abilities which enable you to pay close attention to detail. Your intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel will be beneficial in carrying out your duties effectively. Furthermore, your experience in documenting payroll procedures will be valuable in this role. Lastly, your sound written and verbal communication skills will aid in effectively conveying information within the team.

  • Experience in a similar high-volume payroll role (3,000+ employees)
  • Knowledge of payroll-related legislation including superannuation, tax, and Fair Work
  • High level numeracy and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with documenting payroll procedures
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
