Junior Payroll Officer

What you'll do:
As a Junior Payroll Officer, your primary responsibility will be to process payroll accurately and timely. You will play a crucial role in checking timesheet data entry, ensuring correct work rule calculations, processing payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your role will extend beyond just managing payrolls; you will also assist the Finance Team in ensuring financial functions are completed accurately within agreed timeframes. Your ability to handle employee payroll-related queries, collaborate with HR to maintain accurate employee records, and liaise with external agencies will be key to your success in this role.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Assist the Finance Team in ensuring financial functions are completed accurately within agreed timeframes
- Handle employee payroll-related queries and monitor the payroll inbox
- Collaborate with HR to maintain accurate employee records
- Work with external agencies such as Child Support, Centrelink, Smart Salary, etc.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly payroll reconciliations and reporting
- Provide support to Safety and HR teams with payroll queries and data requests
What you bring:
The ideal Payroll Officer candidate brings experience in payroll processing or similar administrative roles. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and external agencies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is essential for this role. Your ability to handle confidential employee data with professionalism and discretion will be highly valued. Well-developed oral and written communication skills are necessary for this position. Knowledge of EOFY process and reconciliation for STP reporting would be advantageous.
