Senior Payroll Officer
A leading organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a high-volume, complex payroll team supporting a large workforce. This role offers strong exposure to payroll compliance, Awards and EBAs, and system/process improvement initiatives within a structured People & Culture environment. Ideal for someone with solid payroll experience looking to step into a more sophisticated, team-based function.
We are partnering with a well-established organisation to recruit a Senior Payroll Officer to support a large and complex payroll function.
Working within a collaborative team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
This is an end-to-end payroll role, with responsibilities shared across the team due to the size and complexity of the payroll.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume payroll accurately and in line with legislation and internal policies
- Interpret and apply Awards, EBAs, and Fair Work requirements
- Manage payroll queries from employees and stakeholders in a timely manner
- Ensure payroll compliance, controls, and data integrity
- Perform reconciliations and support reporting requirements
- Assist with payroll system upgrades, automation, and process improvements
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across HR and Finance
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives
About You
- 5+ years’ payroll experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation (STP, PAYG, Super)
- Experience interpreting Awards and EBAs
- Exposure to large payroll systems (ERP preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Clear, professional communication style
