Senior Project Officer - Economics | Queensland Government

Multiple opportunities for experienced Project Officers who specialise in the Economics space:

  • 12 month contracts
  • Based Brisbane CBD with flexible working arrangements

As a Senior Project Officer in Economics, your role will be pivotal in undertaking economic assessments for a broad range of projects. You'll provide professional economic advice within government frameworks, contributing significantly to driving economic growth and enabling well-planned, inclusive communities.

What you'll do:

  • Undertake technical economic modelling and evaluation utilising both in-house tools and standard economic methods.
  • Provide timely review and analysis of application documents to support the grant funding decision-making process.
  • Assist with commercial, due diligence, risk, probity checks and financial assessments on investment, industry, and infrastructure projects.
  • Communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues related to economic assessments.
  • Contribute to an environment that values superior client service, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and correspondence and maintain dashboards, spreadsheets, and management reports.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong understanding of economic theory and practice
  • Commercial acumen
  • Ability to deliver quality results under dynamic workloads
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in governance and risk management
  • Proficiency in technical economic modelling and evaluation
  • Prior experience in Queensland State Government highly regarded
