An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Credit Manager to join a leading business in the Australian market. This role offers the chance to play a vital part in overseeing and managing credit operations and policies, evaluating creditworthiness, setting credit limits, monitoring performance, and minimising credit risks. The successful candidate will be joining a team that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivering excellent results.

What you'll do:

As a Credit Manager, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the financial stability of our organisation. You will be responsible for assessing client applications involving small to large clients with annual turnover starting from $1m to $100m+. Your strong analytical skills will be utilised in evaluating data, evidence, system recommendations, and exercising credit approval authority. You will also play an integral role in maintaining a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

  • Oversee and manage the credit operations and policies of the organisation.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  • Monitor and enforce credit policies, making necessary adjustments to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and customers to gather necessary information and resolve credit-related issues.
  • Implement appropriate security structures to protect and assist in recovery in the event of loss.
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement including training junior underwriters.
  • Manage and direct other credit professionals.


What you bring:

The ideal Credit Manager candidate brings a wealth of experience in commercial finance or credit-related insurance products. With your strong numerical and financial analysis skills, you are comfortable discussing financial reports and associated information with stakeholders. Your excellent organisational skills ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks while your ability to communicate effectively allows for seamless collaboration with sales teams, customers, and other professionals.

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in commercial finance working with a Bank or Non Bank in the frontoffice space with at least 5 of those in credit risk.
  • Strong numerical and financial analysis skills including the ability to discuss financial reports and associated information with stakeholders.
  • Commercial lending experience is necessary.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
