Credit Manager - Private Credit - Residential lending
A growing non-bank lender is seeking a Credit Manager to join its Sydney office, offering an excellent opportunity to work across the full transaction lifecycle of real estate-backed lending. This role is ideal for someone from a mortgage lending or non-bank environment who is looking to broaden their exposure across both credit and portfolio management within a commercial lending platform.
You will gain hands-on experience across multiple workstreams including deal assessment, loan execution, portfolio monitoring, broker and borrower engagement, and operational processes. The business is continuing to expand its loan book and product offering, creating a strong opportunity to develop within a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment, with clear pathways for increased responsibility and future leadership.
This position is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a collaborative team where initiative is valued, and where you can take ownership of your work while contributing to the ongoing growth of the platform.
What you'll do:
As a Credit Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the assessment, execution, and ongoing management of loan facilities across residential and commercial real estate lending transactions. You will work closely with senior team members while also engaging directly with brokers and borrowers throughout the lifecycle of each deal.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing loan applications, supporting credit decisions, preparing deal summaries, and monitoring the performance of the existing loan portfolio. You will also assist in managing arrears and maintaining strong relationships across key stakeholders, while progressively taking on greater ownership of deals and internal processes.
Success in this role requires strong credit fundamentals, attention to detail, commercial judgement, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
- Assess loan applications including borrower financials, servicing, and security
- Support credit approvals through preparation of credit papers and deal summaries
- Manage loans post-settlement including covenant tracking, reporting, and arrears monitoring
- Maintain regular engagement with brokers, borrowers, and other stakeholders
- Assist with loan variations, extensions, and workout scenarios where required
- Support loan settlement and documentation processes
- Contribute to internal operations and process improvements
- Work closely with senior team members across both new deal flow and existing portfolio management
- Take on increasing responsibility across deal execution and portfolio oversight as you develop in the role
What you bring:
The ideal candidate will come from a non-bank, mortgage lending, or commercial lending background, with experience across credit assessment and loan management.
You will have a strong understanding of real estate-backed lending, combined with the ability to assess borrower risk and structure transactions appropriately. Your communication skills will enable you to build effective relationships with brokers and borrowers, while your attention to detail ensures high-quality credit outcomes.
- Experience in mortgage lending, non-bank lending, or private credit environments
- Strong understanding of real estate lending (residential and/or commercial)
- Experience in credit assessment and loan structuring
- Exposure to loan management, servicing, or arrears handling is advantageous
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Commercial mindset with sound credit judgement
- Ability to manage multiple deals and priorities simultaneously
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with brokers and borrowers
- Relevant qualifications in finance, business, or a related field
