Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Operations Officer to join their team in Sydney CBD. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead and manage the Financial reporting, tax and regulatory reporting, Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Investment Operations activities for a Country Branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing business plans, contributing to the development of functional strategy, and making decisions guided by functional or major operational segment strategy and priorities. This role requires a strong leader who can work collaboratively with the leadership team to drive core outcomes for the business.

What you'll do:

As a Chief Operations Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing diverse operations within the organisation. Your primary focus will be on managing others and applying operational or strategic management skills. You will provide leadership through managers and be accountable for the performance and results of a division or region. Your ability to execute business plans while contributing to the development of functional strategy will be crucial in this role. Working alongside other leaders, you will strive together to achieve and drive core outcomes for the business.

  • Manage the Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Investment Operations, Financial reporting, tax and regulatory reporting activities for a Country Branch
  • Provide leadership and guidance to subordinate managers
  • Execute business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategy
  • Oversee the deployment of vision, business strategy and organizational direction in relation to Operations activities
  • Support the governance framework for Country Operations unit ensuring effective governance and oversight
  • Implement a framework enabling all direct and matrix reports to use resources effectively
  • Direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced critical thinking


What you bring:

As an ideal candidate for the Chief Operations Officer position, you bring a wealth of experience in managing diverse operations within a financial services environment. Your strong leadership skills have been proven through your ability to guide subordinate managers effectively. You have demonstrated experience in executing business plans while contributing to functional strategy. Your collaborative nature enables you to work well with other senior leaders towards achieving common goals. Your knowledge of local laws affecting the banking/Branch industry ensures compliance in all operations. Your experience in supporting governance frameworks is crucial in ensuring effective governance and oversight.

  • Proven experience in managing Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Investment Operations, Financial reporting, tax and regulatory reporting activities
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in providing guidance to subordinate managers
  • Experience in executing business plans and contributing to functional strategy
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other senior leaders
  • Experience in overseeing the deployment of vision, business strategy and organisational direction in relation to Operations activities
  • Knowledge of local laws that affect the banking/Branch industry
