The Company

Our clients Private Banking division in Australia is experiencing continuous growth, as such they have an opportunity for a Research Analyst with Investment Consulting responsibilities to join the Investment Solutions and Products (ISP) team in Melbourne.

About the Role


You'll be someone who has experience in forming opinions of investment managers across the major asset classes. You will have an understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and investment analysis. You will work within a small and very well-respected team who are experts in their field. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the maintenance and monitoring of the local Recommended Fund list. You will also assist Relationship Manager’s with investment inquiries and client advice.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fund Selection: Working closely with the Funds Solutions team, monitor and analyse fund landscape, meet with fund providers, source and design solutions, perform fund due diligence, and make recommendations
  • Fund Advisory: Work closely with Relationship Managers (RM) their assistants, partners, meet with clients, be a sought-after fund specialist, drive sales effort for your market
  • Fund Expertise: Be the expert for all fund related requests, represent Fund Solutions team, provide training to RMs and clients, active information sharing with global Funds team. Educate the RM team about the product offerings and investment advice, to gain their confidence and trust
  • Promote Discretionary and Advisory mandate offerings, including all initiatives that will help in developing as well as delivering high quality solutions
  • Keep abreast with the latest developments in financial markets, product innovation and financial engineering by following the current news and events, the companies Research universe, personal information network and other meaningful source of news, information and intelligence
  • Assist RM team in marketing the services of the ISP team to their clients
  • Ensure that all the investment activities carried out adhere to the compliance requirements of the firm

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • At least 5 years financial markets experience
  • Experience in fund selection/due diligence
  • Academic background in Finance/Investments or related field
  • Deep knowledge of financial markets and fund management industry
  • Ability to demonstrate sound market knowledge and interest
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills
  • Capability to collaborate and work in a team
  • Knowledge of databases such as Morningstar and Bloomberg would be advantageous
  • Result oriented, dedicated, hardworking who can work on own initiative and can deliver on time under pressure
