Investment Services is a department of the Resources Ministry Centre of the Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of South Australia. Investment Services is primarily responsible for the stewardship of the Synod’s various investment portfolios and associated fundraising activities via its AFSL licenced charitable development fund UC Invest.

About the Manager, Investment Services
The Manager, Investment Services is a unique investment role which will report to the General Manager, Investment & Finance. This position will play a crucial role in implementing a 5-year strategic plan, development of investment strategy and execution, and oversight of the Investment Services team.

The role will provide insight and reporting to the Executive team and Board, develop whole of organisation relationships, and utilise your ability to influence.

The Key Responsibilities:

  • The supervision and management of the Investment Services team fostering a positive team culture and a commitment to high quality customer service and continuous improvement
  • Management of the group treasury function including the development and recommendation of asset allocation models, portfolio management and policy development
  • Developing new and strengthening existing relationships with key wholesale investors with a view to increasing total funds under management
  • Seeking to develop the products and services of UC Invest to meet the needs of investors in a changing financial landscape
  • Ensuring that financial reporting provided by the Investment Services team is accurate, high quality and meets the expectations of relevant Committees and senior management
  • Providing relevant non-financial reporting and analysis to assist in decision making
  • Ensuring that the risk and compliance obligations of Investment Services are always considered and remain front and centre’ within the culture of Investment Services team.

Key Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a business-related discipline (Essential)
  • Member of, or a willingness and eligibility to be a member of, a professional accounting organisation (including CAANZ and or CPA Australia) (Essential)
  • Qualifications required under ASIC Australian Financial Services Licensing conditions to enable the applicant to be appointed a Responsible Manager (Essential)
  • Post graduate qualifications as recognised by ASIC and/or other Investment Services Regulators (Desirable)
  • Proven experience within a banking, finance, investment or accounting environment
  • Proven leadership and development of high performing teams.
  • A demonstrated ability to build and leverage workplace (working) relationships to achieve articulated goals and targets
  • Financial and non-financial reporting experience within the Australian Accounting Standards framework
