Our client is seeking a highly skilled and knowledgeable Credit Analyst to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to validate, analyse, and assess credit applications in line with the company's Credit Policy and procedure. The successful candidate will be a key player in driving continuous improvement, team engagement, and growth within the Lending Operations Team. This position is based in Melbourne.

What you'll do:

As a Credit Analyst, your primary role will be to validate, analyse, and assess credit applications in accordance with the company's Credit Policy. You will manage daily work allocation efficiently while maintaining open communication channels for any necessary support. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be utilised in identifying opportunities for policy, process, and system improvements. Furthermore, you will mentor and support your team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning.

  • Manage daily work allocation within agreed timeframes and proactively communicate delays or support needed.
  • Validate, assess, and recommend credit decisions within delegated lending authority.
  • Comply with Responsible Lending obligations and Credit Policy.
  • Clearly explain credit decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain DLA competency and CPD points and actively own and drive personal career growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve policy, processes, and systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on projects as needed.
  • Mentor and support team members to build credit knowledge and skills.


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Credit Analyst position brings a wealth of experience from a similar role within the banking sector. With a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or a related discipline under your belt, you possess deep knowledge of personal and mortgage lending. Your strong organisational skills are complemented by your exceptional stakeholder management abilities. You have proven experience working autonomously in fast-paced environments. Your exceptional quantitative and analytical skills of credit risk are coupled with sound judgement. Lastly, your excellent written and verbal communication skills enable you to explain complex credit decisions clearly.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Deep knowledge of personal and mortgage lending, as well as complex self-employed, trust, Pty Ltd, SMSF loans.
  • Experience with unsecured lending products in a similar role in a bank.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in a very fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational skills coupled with exceptional stakeholder management abilities.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills of credit risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
