Associate Director -Private Equity

Our client is an Australia Private Equity Fund, focused on buyouts across the ANZ mid-market and they are looking to hire an Associate Director into their investment team. The firm has a proven track record of delivering exceptional returns to their investors, and have leveraged their teams extensive experience to drive value creation across their portfolio.

The Associate Director position is a key role for the firm, responsible for origination and execution, as well as hands on portfolio management across their investments. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the growth of the portfolio companies, and will be heavily involved in implementing operational improvements, turnarounds, and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Origination:

  • Identify and evaluate new investment opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with investment banks, brokers, and industry networks.
  • Conduct detailed market research and industry analysis to support investment decisions.

Execution:

  • Lead the due diligence process, including financial modelling, valuation, and risk assessment.
  • Structure and negotiate deal terms, including pricing, financing, and legal documentation.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless transaction execution.

Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee the performance of portfolio companies, working with management teams to drive operational improvements and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure alignment with investment objectives.
  • Develop and implement exit strategies, including trade sales, IPOs, and secondary buyouts.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in private equity, management consulting, or investment banking, with a strong preference for candidates with prior investing experience
  • Proven track record of leading successful transactions from origination to exit.
  • Proven experience driving value creation and operational improvement within operating businesses is preferred
  • Strong financial modelling, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and capitalise on investment opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A deep understanding of the Australian market and regulatory environment.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, commerce, or a related discipline. An MBA or CFA qualification is highly desirable.
