Fraud and Scams Officer - Day Shift
Key aspects of the role: - Pay: $45 per hour + Super + Overtime Rates - Location: Parramatta based - Contract length: 12-months, with permanent and extension opportunities available (This role is only open to those with full Australian working rights)
A leading financial institution is on the lookout for a dedicated Fraud and Scams Officer to join their team in Parramatta. This is an excellent opportunity for you to make a meaningful impact by protecting customers from fraudulent and scam activity. You bring not only technical proficiency but also emotional intelligence - enabling you to respond sensitively under challenging circumstances.
In this Fraud and Scams Officer position, your background in customer service will be invaluable as you interact daily with individuals who may be experiencing distress due to suspected fraudulent activity. Your strong communication abilities will help foster trust while gathering crucial information needed for effective resolution.
Responsibilities include:
- Engage with customers via inbound and outbound phone calls as well as online live chats to identify potential fraud or scam activity with empathy and professionalism, please note, this position is call centre based and you will be taking a large volume of calls.
- Monitor customer queries attentively, responding promptly to their needs while maintaining high sensitivity throughout all interactions.
- Utilise your critical thinking skills to detect red flags as they arise during conversations, ensuring that any suspicious behaviour is addressed swiftly.
- Manage sensitive processes with discretion, adhering strictly to established protocols to ensure the highest standards of confidentiality and accuracy.
- Participate in a structured 4-week training programme delivered Monday to Friday during standard business hours to build your expertise in fraud detection.
- Contribute positively to the team culture by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and participating in ongoing learning opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions and actions taken in line with company policies.
- WFH flexibility can be offered once you reach the level to do so
