COEX is the not-for-profit organisation appointed to manage and grow Queensland’s Containers for Change refund scheme. Since 2018, the organisation has kept over 12 billion containers out of landfill and returned more than $1 billion in 10c refunds to Queenslanders.

The Role:
As our Acquisition Lead – Property you’ll drive the growth of Queensland’s container refund network by building a strong pipeline of commercial site opportunities. Reporting to our Acquisition and Growth Manager you’ll play a key part in stakeholder engagement, site identification, and shaping strategic decisions that expand the reach of the Containers for Change scheme.
- Engage with the Queensland real estate community to identify and develop new opportunities for container refund points
- Lead the expression of interest process end-to-end, from pipeline development through to evaluation and recommendation
- Partner with real estate professionals, charities, community groups, industry experts, and government to secure prime sites for depots, shopfronts, reverse vending machines, and bag drops
- Prepare reports, briefing notes, and presentations to inform executive decision-making and track project milestones
- Champion safety, compliance, governance, and continuous improvement across all acquisition activities

- Proven experience in business development, property acquisition, or commercial real estate within agile environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build rapport across community, industry, government, and executive audiences
- Working knowledge of Queensland’s commercial/industrial property landscape and relevant regulatory considerations
- Commercial acumen with a track record of delivering outcomes in service-oriented or purpose-driven organisations
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities without compromising quality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing executive-level reports and presentations
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Asana) and the Microsoft Office suite
- Flexibility to travel across Queensland, including remote locations, with a current driver’s licence
- Experience in recycling, environmental or beverages industry is desirable. (Optional)
- Eligibility to hold a Blue Card
- Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal history check
