Our client is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner to provide advice and recommendations to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the development of strategies and plans for their organisation. The role provides decision support to senior management on a wide range of business issues. This includes funding, budgeting, forecasting and insights driven financial analysis to aid informed decision making by senior management

About the Team

The Business Finance Team forms part of the Finance function of the organisation, within the Chief of Staff & Enterprise Services Division. The function is responsible for the development and implementation of effective accounting, business planning, project management and procurement frameworks to deliver requisite services to the organisation, which facilitate the achievement of their corporate objectives. These services include financial and management reporting and accounting, strategic and business planning and reporting, project financial management support, enterprise procurement services and the preparation of budgets and budgetary estimates for the Executive Board and Management Committee.

About the Role

  • Leaders in the organsiation are provided with appropriate financial information to inform decision making.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans in support of corporate and business objectives.
  • Proactive and effective liaison and communication with business divisions on Finance’s agenda.
  • Sound commercial, government and financial practices are delivered that lead to greater value and lower risk to the organisation.
  • Sound advice is provided when required on budget setting and information regarding budget forecasting.
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to provide decision support to management on a wide range of business issues. This includes budgeting, forecasting and insights driven financial analysis as well as ad-hoc requests and project related work that arises. This will provide management with accurate information on which to make informed business decisions and deliver on their financial commitments.
  • Providing financial advice to senior managers and business stakeholders based on data (including where data is incomplete).
  • Owning, running and maintaining key underlying accounting processes and financial models, including accruals, with timely data and processing of relevant monthly transactions.
  • Maintenance of key financial tracking tools, including the tracking of budget changes, to ensure budgetary control is maintained.
  • Close liaison with business divisions to understand relevant issues, and the communication of necessary accounting information to develop their business capabilities / manage their available funds.
  • Identifying and leading process improvement opportunities within the Business Finance team and where applicable, the wider Finance & Procurement function.
  • Supporting the Business Finance function with delivery of ad-hoc work.

About You

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of financial planning, risk management, and performance management concepts and practices.
  • Proven capacity to manage the development and tracking of strategic and operational financial budgets and plans including investment pool.
  • Excellent ability to analyse financial data and achieve best practice outcomes with senior leaders.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of financial management systems, processes and reporting procedures.
  • Conceptual and strategic planning skills in finance and management.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, influencing and presentational skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the organisation's objectives, functions, processes and systems.
  • Skilled in financial modelling building and maintenance.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for advising internal clients, explaining procedures and determining requirements.
  • Flexibility and ability to work with change in a dynamic and evolving organisation.
  • Professionally qualified in finance (CPA/CA).
