AO7 Principal Finance Officer
The role: The Finance Team Leader is responsible for guiding a multi-disciplinary team in the development, implementation, maintenance, and review of financial programs, systems, policies, and procedures to enhance the finance functions within the department. The role requires a strategic approach to financial management, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant legislation while contributing to improved financial practices across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a diverse team to achieve departmental objectives, ensuring the effective implementation and review of financial programs and policies.
• Financial Statement Preparation: Contribute to the preparation of both general purpose and specific purpose financial statements, ensuring alignment with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant financial guidelines.
• Ledger Integrity: Oversee the preparation of reconciliations, corrective journals, and working papers to maintain the integrity of the department's general ledger and budget systems.
• Policy Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and practices aimed at improving financial accounting and management within the department.
• Advisory Services: Provide insightful analysis and authoritative advice to management, business units, and clients, identifying issues and suggesting options for improvement.
• Training and Development: Identify training needs related to financial accounting and management and contribute to the creation and implementation of effective training programs.
• Time Management: Exhibit excellent time management skills, effectively managing the team’s workload amidst conflicting deadlines.

• Problem Solving and Communication: Demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
• Technical Expertise: Possess extensive knowledge of SAP and Excel, leveraging these tools to enhance financial management processes.
