AO3 Appeals Business Support Officer
A leading government organisation in Brisbane CBD is seeking an Appeals Business Support Officer for a six-month contract, offering a competitive hourly rate of $50 - $52. What you'll do:
- Assist with case management by preparing briefs, pre-trial checklists, arranging witnesses for conferencing and hearings, issuing notices, booking meeting rooms, and handling logistics for court attendance.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for Appeals Officers, counsel, and witnesses, ensuring timely bookings for proceedings.
- Order transcripts of proceedings and proactively manage incoming correspondence by recording and distributing it efficiently using digital solutions such as Content Manager and QI.
- Adhere to quality standards by following standardised practices and processes to deliver accurate work within legislative timeframes.
- Liaise with counsel, workers, employers, insurers, and their legal representatives regarding appeals issues of an administrative nature.
What you bring:
- Mandatory: Recent 1-2 years’ experience in an administrative role within a professional office environment; ideally within legal or dispute resolution settings as a paralegal.
- Mandatory: Declaration of any other employment undertaken during engagement is required upon commencement.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise digital solutions effectively for prioritising work, managing timeframes, multi-tasking, and meeting legislative deadlines.
- Proficiency in Adobe software applications as well as intermediate to advanced word processing and data entry skills.
- Sound knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of procedures relevant to Industrial Magistrates Court (IM Court), Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC), Industrial Court (IC), and Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT).
