EL1 Event Project Officer

Our client, a large Federal Government organisation, is seeking an EL1 Event Project Officer to join their team. This role presents an opportunity to be part of a significant project that will have a substantial impact on the Australian community.

What you'll do:

As an EL1 Event Project Officer, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of a significant project. Your duties will be to:

  • Ensure the agency satisfies its legislative obligations under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and all related frameworks.
  • Support the Chief Audit Executive in maintaining effective Internal Audit and Assurance governance arrangements to ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Charter and legislative obligations.
  • Supervise and collaborate with service providers and key stakeholders to deliver internal audits including:
    • development of work plans, resource requirements and test programs
    • conduct of audit fieldwork
    • drafting and reviewing of audit reports, including presenting findings in a clear, concise and easy to understand manner
    • management of stakeholders
    • document and maintain accurate records
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and report on matters relating to assurance including, the conduct of reviews and compliance with the Commonwealth framework and legislation.
  • Provide analysis and judgement on complex issues and make significant contribution to the management, preparation and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.
  • Lead and manage a team to ensure high quality outputs, including building team capability to maintain a high level of expertise and encouraging career development.
  • Develop and actively manage key internal and external relationships, including collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. In addition to representing and explaining agency views in various forums.
  • Provide high quality and timely advice internally and externally, including guidance and reporting to Branch leadership and the Senior Executive cohort including, Executive Leadership Team and relevant Committees in relation to section/Branch functional responsibilities.
  • Make and communicate decisions using professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with the team to meet deadlines, improve processes and achieve organisational objectives.
  • Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.

What you bring:

  • Highly developed understanding of governance and assurance frameworks for the Commonwealth Government
  • Experience (minimum 5 years) working within an internal audit function and applying the relevant International Professional Practices Framework (issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors), and industry-accepted/best practice controls frameworks to internal audit assignments.
  • Professional auditing qualifications, such as CGAP, CISA, CPA or Graduate Certificate in Internal Auditing
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a complex environment and successfully managing competing priorities and delivering quality results within agreed timeframes.
  • Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships, including across a geographically dispersed network.
  • Proven analytical abilities to draw accurate conclusions and apply innovative solutions for the purpose of contributing to change and business improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
  • Membership with Institute of Internal Auditors or ISACA, or the ability to hold a professional membership.

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in assurance or similar.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks, including Resource Management.
