A leading independent statutory body is seeking Dispute Resolution Officers to join their dedicated team in Brisbane for a full-time, temporary six-month opportunity. What you'll do:
As a Dispute Resolution Officer, you will be instrumental in facilitating constructive conversations between parties involved in complaints relating to discrimination or human rights matters. Your day-to-day activities will include analysing incoming complaints, determining suitable pathways for resolution, conducting conciliation conferences with sensitivity, maintaining comprehensive records, and responding thoughtfully to public enquiries. Success in this role requires you to engage empathetically with people from varied backgrounds while upholding legislative standards. You will also contribute to the team's shared learning culture by offering insights gained from your experiences. - Analyse and manage complaints received to determine the most appropriate means of dispute resolution for each case, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Facilitate conciliation conferences with empathy and integrity, fostering respectful dialogue between parties to achieve fair, just, and sustainable outcomes.
- Interpret and apply knowledge of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and Human Rights Act 2019 when managing complaints, adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic records of complaints and enquiries to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective case management.
- Respond promptly to public enquiries by providing clear information and appropriate referrals related to discrimination and human rights issues.
- Contribute actively to personal learning and development while sharing feedback and insights that help build the team's collective knowledge base.
- Support the achievement of complaint resolution targets through excellent customer service and rapport-building with diverse communities.
- Undertake additional duties as required that are commensurate with the responsibilities of the role, demonstrating flexibility in meeting organisational needs.

- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex legislation such as the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 and Human Rights Act 2019 when resolving complaints using sound judgement.
- Proven experience building rapport with diverse complaint parties as well as colleagues and managers in a collaborative setting.
- Exceptional organisational skills enabling you to manage multiple tasks including administrative duties and file management independently.
- Resilience in handling challenging circumstances involving sensitive or distressing subject matter while maintaining professionalism.
- Strong capability in conducting dispute resolution processes such as conciliation conferences aimed at achieving organisational goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging effectively with members of the public from various backgrounds.
