Infrastructure Engineer
Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior OpenShift Administrator with strong background in managing on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters, especially within government services.
- 12 + 12 +12 months contract
- Must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
- Negative Vetting 1 security clearance
The ideal candidate will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems and automate solutions to ensure stable and efficient operation of OpenShift environments, with a proven ability to lead cloud projects, mentor junior staff and integrate seamlessly into a complex, dynamic team environment.
What you'll do:

Design, deploy, manage, and troubleshoot OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.

Support developers in automating app deployment and scaling using OpenShift, GitOps workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.

Manage cluster upgrades, resource allocation, configuration, and capacity planning to maintain optimal performance.

Build Infrastructure as Code solutions using Ansible, Terraform, or Helm for scalable, resilient deployments.

Implement OpenShift security best practices, including vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and RBAC.

Lead technical teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage project timelines and deliverables.

Collaborate with developers, architects, and stakeholders to align infrastructure with business goals.

Maintain clear documentation and actively share knowledge with the team.

On-call and after-hours support may occasionally be required.
What you bring:

Qualifications
-
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.

Alternatively, a combination of 5+ years of experience in a large-scale ICT environment and 3+ years working with Kubernetes in enterprise settings.

Professional Experience
-
5+ years of system administration experience, including OpenShift/Kubernetes cluster management.

Extensive hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, covering networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting in containerized environments.

Experience in government or regulated sectors, with familiarity in compliance frameworks such as the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential 8.

Certifications

Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (or equivalent), or a strong willingness to attain certification within the first 3–6 months of employment.
