What you'll do:
- Lead the cross-functional Asset Management Working Group to promote integrated planning and ensure alignment with organisational strategy.
- Develop and implement comprehensive long-term asset management frameworks that support council plans, service delivery, and financial sustainability.
- Oversee the creation of Asset Management-led Works Programmes, ensuring they reflect strategic priorities and deliver measurable outcomes for the community.
- Integrate asset planning processes across business units and service providers to drive consistency and maximise value from infrastructure investments.
- Coordinate regular asset valuations, maintain accurate unit rates and condition ratings, and support audit compliance through robust data validation processes.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for enterprise asset management systems, advising on lifecycle management, renewal modelling, and scenario analysis.
- Establish clear condition standards, define performance targets, report on asset outcomes, and enhance systems capability for improved data collection and analysis.
- Support multi-year capital works execution by streamlining project delivery processes under established frameworks, including grant management responsibilities.
- Champion best practices in asset management by building organisational capability, cultivating strong stakeholder relationships (especially with Finance and Information Services), and providing expert advice on complex issues.
- Oversee the development of fleet renewal plans, manage annual fleet capital/operating budgets, develop policies/procedures for effective fleet operations, and support the Operations Centre.
What you bring:
- Hold suitable qualifications complemented by extensive experience in both strategic and operational asset management within local government or similar environments.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of local government infrastructure assets—including plant and fleet management—and their unique challenges.
- Showcase advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills that enable you to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Exhibit highly developed project management abilities alongside proven contract administration experience within large-scale public sector settings.
- Display exceptional analytical skills with a track record of solving intricate problems using sound judgement while maintaining data accuracy.
- Possess strong computer literacy with hands-on experience using asset management applications/databases;
- Bring excellent time management capabilities that allow you to set clear priorities for yourself and your team while meeting tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate proficiency in geographical information systems software (such as Intramaps) for enhanced spatial analysis of assets.
- Have experience leading multidisciplinary teams—motivating staff across locations while promoting a positive workplace culture focused on customer service excellence.
