What you'll do:
As a Senior Project Manager based in Brisbane, you will be entrusted with end-to-end responsibility for delivering significant capital projects that enhance critical infrastructure. Your day-to-day activities will involve guiding multi-disciplinary teams through each phase of the project lifecycle—planning detailed schedules, coordinating design efforts, managing tenders, supervising construction works on-site, and ensuring seamless handover upon completion. You will be instrumental in maintaining rigorous controls over budgets and timelines while fostering transparent communication among diverse stakeholders. By championing process improvements and nurturing a collaborative team spirit rooted in shared values, you will help drive operational excellence across all facets of project delivery. - Deliver complex asset improvement projects by applying robust project management methodologies in line with established policies, processes, and industry best practices such as PMBOK or similar frameworks.
- Provide effective site supervision as Superintendent’s Representative during construction phases to ensure contractors meet all quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Lead and manage project teams throughout all lifecycle stages—from initiation through close-out—ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance with governance standards.
- Monitor project progress using advanced reporting software to guarantee timely achievement of milestones and deliverables while proactively addressing any emerging risks or issues.
- Conduct regular status meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to review performance metrics, cost control measures, scheduling updates, and governance compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing delivery processes and systems, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and supporting the development of long-term asset management strategies.
- Manage stakeholder relationships effectively by facilitating open communication channels between executive leadership, operational teams, government departments, regulators, and bulk water customers.
- Drive the preparation of business cases and sourcing strategies to secure optimal value during procurement activities while overseeing contract development and execution.

- Ensure strict adherence to all work health and safety protocols as well as quality assurance procedures in every aspect of project delivery.

- Tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering, business administration or a related discipline—or equivalent experience demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of these fields.
- A proven track record spanning 7–10 years managing multiple complex projects exceeding $5 million in value across multi-disciplinary environments.
- Eligibility for Corporate Membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia or Australian Institute of Project Management (CPPM), or capacity to obtain such membership within six months of appointment.
- Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams—including consultants and contractors—to achieve ambitious corporate goals within defined timeframes.
- A valid Class C Driver’s Licence enabling travel between sites as required for project supervision duties.
- Expertise in developing sourcing strategies and preparing compelling business cases that maximise value throughout procurement processes; hands-on experience managing contracts from negotiation through execution.
- Comprehensive understanding of Australian standards relating to contracting law, quality assurance protocols, environmental management systems, and workplace health & safety regulations.
- Proficiency with project management software tools (such as Planisware) alongside advanced computer literacy skills for effective reporting and analysis.
- Exceptional analytical abilities combined with strong organisational skills for problem-solving within fast-evolving project contexts.
- Outstanding communication skills—both written and verbal—that enable you to liaise persuasively with senior leaders internally as well as regulatory bodies externally.
